The Standing Commitment

Weekly
Thing

One new thing every week. Finished or not, polished or not, it gets logged. This page is the accountability — an empty week is a visible week.

Week 003

Aug 24 – Aug 30, 2026

Sketchbook pages, and art school prep

Most of this week lived in the sketchbook rather than in a repo: a flower-crowned goblin worked up in graphite and ink, and a page of loose scribbles — a burning eye, an octopus, a robot, and a cup of the darkest roast there is. Warm-ups for art school, not portfolio pieces. They are up on hatdragon.com now, which is the part that makes them count.

Week 002

Aug 17 – Aug 23, 2026

Housing for wowhuds, and dnlp back in practice

Taught the HUD hub to read housing manifests, so one paste finishes a submission instead of a form full of guesses — still on a branch, not shipped, which counts here anyway. And dnlp.net is answering again: the 2002 studio relaunched, with a contact form that keeps what it is given rather than handing it to a mail client and hoping.

Week 001

Aug 10 – Aug 16, 2026

This site

Built the front door. The manifesto is up, the what-ifs are listed, and this log exists — which means there's now nowhere to hide.

Software

Next week's entry doesn't exist yet. That's the whole mechanism.

Notes From The Bench

Why the log comes before the work

The commitment is the hard part, not the making. Putting an empty log online is the cheapest way I know to make next week non-optional.

Rough is the point

A finished thing I never show is worth less than a scrappy thing I do. Everything logged here is allowed to be unpolished.

Process, not product. How things get made — including the parts that don't work.
